ATNARKO RETREAT ON CHARLOTTE LAKE

How to find us at Charlotte Lake

Charlotte Lake is situated on the Chilcotin Plateau at the foot of the Coast Mountains. The lake is one of the most pristine lakes in British Columbia, approximately 16 long (10 miles) and 8 km (5 miles) wide. The water is of the cleanest drinking water quality, as the ground is mostly rock and sand. The water comes directly out of the mountains from the melted snow fields and glaciers. Map of a portion of BC.

By Car:
In Williams Lake you take Hwy 20 west and after approximately 290 km (181 miles) you’ll see our sign on the road “Atnarko Lodge 20 km”. Here you turn to your left onto a new gravel road and eventually will take the second right (Engadin Road) Follow the signs all the way to the Lodge. You will be surprised what you find at the end of the road! It is worth it! Hwy 20 is a great road to drive! Along rolling grass fields you 'll slowly come closer to the gigantic Coast Mountains that have snow on their peaks the whole year around. As all the Chilcotin has just a population of about 5000 people you will see more cows and deer along the road (and maybe a bear or some moose) than cars and people. We advise you to gas up at the Redstone Gas Station about 180 km west of Williams Lake. If you plan to cook for yourself, get your groceries in Williams Lake. There is a little Store in Alexis Creek, and one in Tatla Lake on your way out west. Also in Nimpo Lake (about 30 Min. drive from Charlotte Lake) we have a store where you can get the most important stuff but it is a good idea to get what you need in the city. Our little stores are great but have just the most essential stuff in stock.

By Plane:

Pacific Coastal flies to Anahim Laketwice a day in the summer. It is a great adventure to take this one hour flight, especially if you get the chance to stop over in Bella Coola. If you fly in to Anahim Lake, we will be happy to pick you up at the airport. It will be just a 45 min. drive out to Charlotte Lake.

You also can fly into Williams Lake. Pacific Coastal and CMA fly several times a day directly from Vancouver to Williams Lake. In Williams Lake you can rent a car or we’ll come and pick you up (see more info below). If you fly in to Williams Lake in the afternoon you might want to stay overnight, as it is better to drive by daylight because of wildlife and cattle on the road and you would miss the great scenery at night.

By Ferry:
That is one of the most spectacular journeys you can make! Take the ferry from Port Hardy to Bella Coola (or the other way around). The Ferry runs in the summer 2010 from June 15 until September 13 and makes the trip 3 times a week. Either you take the fast one (recommended) or the overnight one. It is spectacular! With just a little bit of luck you’ll see dolphins, whales, seals, and an unforgettable coastal landscape! Go to http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/discovery/ to find out more and to reserve your trip.

Or we pick you up:
We can pick you up with our Suburban (big enough for up to 6 passengers) in Vancouver, or in Williams Lake. There is lots to explore on the way to Charlotte Lake and we would be happy to show you all the secret spots along the way.
Cost: $ 400.00 per Day (car and driver) + overnight stays, meals and entrances to museums etc. (for your party and the driver).
